Last year, the CPI(M) managed to reopen its party office in Nandigram, 12 years after violence there over land acquisition. Over the past months, far away from media attention, Left leaders are organising rallies across Bengal against the Centre’s and state government’s various alleged anti-people policies like hike in fuel prices, privatisation of coal blocks, railways, job losses and plight of migrants ahead of next year's assembly polls.
